Sissinghurst Castle gardens.

Dear All,

What a romantic husband! He organised a surprise birthday visit for his wife to see 4 gardens and the world famous Chelsea Flower Show. Each was different: Hidcote Manor (with its inter-connecting room-like gardens) and Barnsley House (home of the late garden designer, Rosemary Very) in the Cotswolds one day, and Sissinghurst Castle (one time home of Vita Sackville West) and Great Dixter (home of the prolific gardener and author Christopher Lloyd) in Kent on the second day. She has now gone home with a wealth of ideas to put into practice in her own garden in Connecticut. She didn't even know the destination of their holiday until arrival at the airport! I'm happy to say the weather was fine too so we could see the gardens in their early summer glory.

Best wishes

Rosamund
